Final Project

Field of Dreams:

This final is on the possibility of a dream. At this age, these little league players have the dream of playing in the major league. Here is a story to the start of that dream.














"take me out to the ballgame"

I made this intentionally darker than the rest for the simply reason: I wanted everyone to feel like they were seeing a picture of a ballgame from 1943. I felt great when my wife said she saw this and thought it looked like a picture from 1933 (slightly earlier, but at least I accomplished what I wanted). I also wanted to capture the American flag near the middle of the action to remind us of America's favorite past time.

If you don't have seeds, well just spit anyway

Swing! And a base hit. It comes down to this, bottom of the ninth, 1 out, down 1-0 with a runner on first....

Runner going, he is............safe! That puts him in scoring position. Let's see if our batter can produce a run or two.

Now 2 outs. Runner on second, with our best hitter up to bat. The fielders are getting ready to make that final out.

Swing, a long fly ball, the outfielder is going back, going back, could it be???

Go crazy folks, go crazy!

Defeat

I don't know if you've ever stuck around at the end of a game, all that's left after the crowd and players have left are some footprints, sunflower shells, and the very thing that dreams are made of - the baseball.

I was actually trying to capture the shells being ejected and also trying to capture the muzzle flash.

Portraiture Ass#5

SWAT UP:

This is Jeff Tracy, a member on Utah County Metro Swat Team. He was gracious enough to meet me at our shooting range at 0630 hrs. Here he is posing in full kit (minus the balacava. He is also one of our breachers which is why you see the shotgun slung behind the shoulder)

Sheldon:

Sheldon is 12 years old. He is my nephew and he is autistic. I haven't known Sheldon well for most of his life. His family recently moved to Utah from California where he was born and raised. He is known to wander off any time of day without notice. My brother and his family has spent many scary hours searching for him. So far, he has always been found. Sheldon has a hard time remembering my name and calls me "hey dude" or "hey you". Sheldon LOVES his hot wheels cars.


This was a total blast for me overall. Although it was very physically challenging for me to shoot these portraits due to my crutches, but I was happy with the end results. I was very happy to shoot Sheldon and better yet, get to know him and start hanging out with him as I spend more time with his family.

Assignment #4 : Color Theory

I enjoyed this assignment especially when it came to complimentary colors. I enjoy looking for color generally so this gave me the opportunity to really show colors (some bright colors) together. To me, the color helps capture a lot of the emotion in pictures.

High-Key, Low-Key Assignment

LOW-KEY shots:

The "computer" thought I should go with these. I used two black shirts for background for the equipment list, but as you can see the "computer" couldn't read my brain. For America's favorite past time, the "computer" liked this one the best, however the baseball just looks like a the perfect snowball.

HIGH-KEY shots:

Again, the "computer" wanted some me to select some different shots to post on here. The Phantom of the Opera mask (yes, there is a story associated) has a LOT more pink in it as illustrated below. As for the iPod, very low contrast.

This was a fun assignment for me. I really learned that you can't use two different light source when trying to get that perfect lighting. I also learned that I must have patience when shooting in low light and to really take my time in finding a particular subject.

This lesson taught me to really think outside the box when it comes to photography and capturing emotion. I really enjoyed most of my 0-99 pictures, some I want to DELETE however.
